Chase Durer Wing Commander
Fool me once.... I won't be back for another. The Citizen/Miyota movement was scavenged for parts to make a "real" watch work again after the battery died and then corroded the movement in a nice Stainless Steel Citizen Chrono.
The brassing you see on the case occurred within a couple of years. The gold plate can be seen slightly worn on the bezel and I polished the gold plate off the two tone band and sanded the Wing Commander logo off the clasp so I could use the nice solid link bracelet on another watch. I will say this again, The chrome plate on the watch head wore off before the Gold plate wore off the bezel or band. I have 30 year old watches that are chrome plated brass and look almost brand new. The long and short of it is this is a cheap watch, at some board meeting somewhere the decision was made to use a very good, high quality band and then get cheap with the watch head!
Even the dial for the watch is excellent quality, it appears to be a white enamel though it probably isn't and the rest is painted on which should last a long time and not fade.
I have never seen a wholesale price on Chase Durer watches anywhere. Even on EBay they are very overpriced. This tells me that they are direct marketed and somewhere someone is getting very wealthy!
This company should be advertising in the back of Boys Life Magazine where discerning parents have the ability to say no to a child who otherwise can't afford to buy one but unfortunately they advertise in adult magazines too so buyer beware there are a dozen other brands that have been around for 50 years or better and they make a watch worth buying for what a Chase Durer costs.
